Signal Hill
Signal Hill is the low, flat-topped ridge running off Lion's Head. You can drive almost to the top, which makes it the gentlest way to watch the sun come up over the city and Table Bay.
Locals come up here before work, with a flask, and leave before the tour buses arrive.
Tips for your visit
- •Park at the top lot and walk five minutes along the ridge for a quieter spot.
- •Bring a warm layer. The wind up here is colder than in town.
- •The noon gun is fired from the lower slopes most days at 12:00.
